Snapchat Launches Web Version, Only For Paid Subscribers In Select Countries
JAKARTA - Snap Inc announced on Monday, July 18 that it has introduced a web version of the photo messaging app Snapchat. This web version allows users to chat, take pictures and make video calls from their computers.
Snap Inc, also said that the feature will be exclusive to Snapchat+ subscribers starting July 18 and will start with customers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Snapchat for the web will include features like chat reactions and chat replies, along with Lenses, which will be rolling out soon.
Snap last month launched Snapchat+, the paid version of the Snapchat app, in the United States for $3.99 per month and several other markets, in a major move to explore alternative revenue models that currently rely largely on advertising. .
The social media company is under pressure as it reduces advertising budgets in response to rising costs and weak consumer spending.
Snap in May said it would miss its revenue and profit targets for the second quarter and should slow hiring and lower spending. The company's shares have fallen nearly 71% this year.
