Former Director Of Krakatau Steel Fazwar Bujang Becomes A Corruption Suspect At The AGO, His Status Is A City Prisoner

JAKARTA - Former President Director of PT Krakatau Steel for the 2007-2012 period, Fazwar Bujang alias FB, has been detained in the city after being named a suspect in a corruption case against the Blast Furnace Complex (BFC) steel smelter project by PT Krakatau Steel in 2011.

The Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, said that to speed up the process of investigating FB into a city detainee, based on the Detention Order of the Director of Investigation of the Attorney General for Special Crimes Number: Prin-26/F.2/Fd.2/07/2022 dated 18 July 2022.

"FB has been in city custody for 20 (twenty) days starting from July 18, 2022 to August 6, 2022," Sumedana said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 18.

In addition to FB, the AGO also named other suspects, namely Andi Soko Setiabudi alias ASS as Deputy Director of Strategic Projects for PT Krakatau Steel for the 2010-2012 period and Ir. Muhammad Reza alias MR as Project Manager of PT Krakatau Engineering for the 2013-2016 period was detained at the Salemba Rutan of the Attorney General's Office for 20 days for investigation purposes.

Then the suspect Ir. Bambang Purnomo alias BP as the President Director of PT Krakatau Engineering for the 2012-2015 period and Hernanto Wiryomijoyo alias HW alias Raden Hernanto alias RH as the Head of the Blast Furnace Project Preparation and Implementation Team in 2011 and the General Manager of the PT Krakatau Steel Project for the 2013-2019 period were also detained at Class 1 Rutan Salemba Central Jakarta for 20 days for investigation purposes.

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin explained that in 2007 PT Krakatau Steel (KS) approved the procurement of the BFC factory with the winning contractors being the MCC CERI consortium and PT Krakatau Engineering which is a subsidiary of PT Krakatau Steel, but the procurement was carried out against the law.

"What should have been MCC CERI did the construction as well as the financing, but in reality it was financed by a domestic consortium or himbara with the contract value for the BFC factory construction with an acceptance system according to the initial contract of IDR 4.7 trillion until the 4th addendum swelled to IDR 6.9 trillion. ," said Burhanuddin in his video press conference release in Jakarta, Monday.

The suspects were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law.
