Anies Baswedan Ensures Y20 Declaration Is Realized In DKI

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ensured that the declaration of world youth who are members of the Youth 20 (Y20) forum is realized at the local government level in the capital because it determines the nation's future.

"We in DKI are ready to cooperate with the Y20 Indonesian delegation to carry out the communique that will be agreed upon," Anies said at the Y20 delegation's dinner, reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 18.

According to Anies, the focus discussed in the forum was to explore priority issues that determine the world's future.

"The resulting document will change the journey of mankind in the future, because what is gathered is across nations," said Anies.

Y20 Indonesia Co-Chair Michael Victor Sianipar explained that at this year's meeting four priority issues were discussed, namely the world of work and social protection.

Then, about digital transformation, then a sustainable planet and finally about diversity and inclusion.

The four strategic discussions will be packaged into a declaration of world youth or the Y20 communique and will be submitted to President Joko Widodo who holds the G20 Presidency in Bali, in October 2022.

"After being signed, how do we youths including the Y20 Indonesia committee oversee so that this becomes a policy that is adopted, discussed at the level of the meeting of heads of state, so that it is not only a global issue but a youth perspective for the future," he said.

Michael hopes that the role of the local government will follow up on the ideas from the youths summarized in the communique.

DKI Jakarta hosted the Y20 youth forum meeting with Bandung in West Java.

The Y20 Forum in Jakarta this year was attended by around 90 delegates from 19 countries and representatives of the European Union or members of the "Group of 20" (G20).
