Arema FC Won The 2022 President's Cup Champion Trophy, Coach Eduardo Almeida: We're Working Hard To Get It

JAKARTA - Arema FC won the 2022 President's Cup after a 0-0 draw with Borneo FC in the second leg which took place at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, Sunday, July 17. With that result, Arema FC won on aggregate after winning 1-0 in the first leg.

Arema FC coach Eduardo Almeida appreciated the hard work of his players to reduce the host's ambition to avenge the defeat in the first leg. He also revealed the key behind his team's victory.

"The key to our success in this final is the hard work of the players," said Eduardo Almeida after the match, as reported by Antara.

This is Arema FC's third title in the same event. Almeida also said this was not only the success of players or coaches.

"This trophy is a success for all of us, both the players, management, supporters, and families," he said.

He revealed that the Arema team's target in this pre-season tournament was to win the title. So, when the team has gone through the final round, all the players have been focused on winning the game.

"We came to Samarinda with a narrow victory, therefore we have to work hard to get the title," he said.

Meanwhile, Arema FC player Johan Ahmad Farizi expressed his gratitude for the success of his team in winning the 2022 President's Cup title. He admitted that the second leg match was very tight, and physically drained the Arema players.

"We have worked as much as possible in the match, and we are grateful to be able to achieve the best results in this pre-season," explained Alfarizi.
