Aceng Bin Memed Was Dragged By Cianjur River Current While Going Fishing, BPBD And PMI Still Searching
CIANJUR - The joint SAR team from BPBD and PMI in Cianjur Regency, West Java, is still trying to find victims from Sayang Village, Cianjur District on behalf of Aceng Bin Memed.
Aceng was reported missing by the current of the Cianjur River while fishing on the evening of Friday, July 15.
Secretary of BPBD Cianjur Regency, Rudi Wibowo said the victim was reportedly swept away by the current after heavy rains with intensity of more than two hours hit most of the local area.
"The victim was reported to have been swept away by the current while catching fish on the banks of the Cianjur River, residents had tried to help but the fast river current made them give up their intention because it could threaten their safety," he said when contacted, Antara, Friday night.
The search for the riverbanks was carried out by joint officers assisted by the TNI/Polri and local residents, but the heavy rain coupled with the rising and heavy flow of river water made the search difficult.
"We will continue the search tomorrow with the hope that the victim will be found soon. However, until nightfall, a number of residents and volunteers were still searching, even with minimal lighting," said Rudi.
The Head of Cianjur Sub-district, Tom Dani Gardiat, said that his party immediately coordinated with the Cianjur Regency BPBD and local PMI regarding reports of residents who were swept away by the current while looking for fish on the banks of the Cianjur River, precisely in Gang Rinjani, Sayang Village.
"The victim reportedly slipped while catching fish and was immediately carried away by a fast river current. The search is still being carried out by the joint SAR team in the hope that they can be found soon," he said.
