KSP Asks Jambaran-Tiung Biru Gas Project To Start Production Next August

JAKARTA – The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) through the Deputy I for Energy, Investment and Infrastructure is pushing for the Jambara–Tiung Biru (JTB) Gas Unitization Field Development project to start producing (onstream) in August.

In this way, one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) is expected to be able to immediately meet the increasing energy demand in Java.

"This JTB is projected to be able to meet gas needs on the island of Java, therefore we appreciate PT Pertamina EP Cepu, PT Rekind and SKK Migas who have worked seriously so that in July this can be gas in. KSP will continue to encourage JTB to be able to gas onstream in August," said Deputy I KSP, Febry Calvin Tetelepta in a written statement, Thursday, July 14.

Deputy I and KSP experts today monitored the completion of the Jambaran Tiung Biru gas project in Bojonegoro.

However, KSP has been overseeing this project since 2019 and regularly coordinates meetings between related parties.

The climax was at the coordination meeting held by KSP last June, the relevant Ministries/Institutions had committed to helping PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) find solutions to the obstacles in the field, including financial constraints.

Febry added that this Rp 22 trillion project has an advantage because it was built with a 40 percent domestic component level (TKDN) commitment.

Currently, the JTB project is able to absorb 70 percent of local workers from the Bojonegoro area.

In addition, 95 percent of strategic installations are assembled domestically.

Febry added that the JTB project will not only have a strategic role in energy fulfillment, but will also be a source of local economic growth, in line with President Joko Widodo's vision.

"The existing timeline must be implemented properly and on time. KSP wants to ensure that all parties have the same commitment in completing the JTB project," said Febry.

"The issue of financing and material procurement is no longer a problem and we believe JTB can contribute to energy security in Indonesia," he concluded.

As is known, JTB is one of the energy sector PSNs set by President Joko Widodo through Presidential Decree 109 of 2020.

The JTB project, which is expected to become one of the largest gas producers in Indonesia, will have a gas production capacity of 192 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
