JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) encourages school residents and residents living around the school environment to undergo the third dose of COVID-19 vaccination or booster dose.

"We encourage educators and education staff as well as other school residents to vaccinate up to a booster dose. Likewise for the elderly around the school. This is done to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission in schools," said the Director of Elementary Schools of the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Kemendikbudristek Mohammad Hasbi's Elementary and Secondary Education was reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 14.

If the booster vaccination has covered 80 percent of the population, the risk of COVID-19 transmission during face-to-face learning can be minimized 100 percent.

"Bringing children back to school is an effective strategy compared to other learning strategies," said Hasbi.

The Ministry of Education and Culture together with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Religion, and the Ministry of Health have published guidelines for implementing learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The latest guidelines regulate 100 percent face-to-face learning," said Hasbi.

He said that 100 percent face-to-face learning can be carried out in areas where community activity restrictions are leveled one to four with a booster dose of vaccination coverage of 80 percent.

In addition to issuing guidelines for implementing learning during the pandemic, the Ministry of Education and Culture introduced the Independent Curriculum to overcome learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning loss is a term used to describe the loss of academic knowledge and skills or the occurrence of a decline in the academic process due to certain factors.
