DKI DPRD F-PKS: Greater Jakarta Proposal From Depok Walkot Is Positive But Must Be Discussed
JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD considers the proposal to form Greater Jakarta consisting of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi, which was echoed by the Mayor of Depok, Mohammad Idris, as positive, but must be discussed further.
"We view this as something positive, but it needs to be discussed further and sit down together," said the chairman of the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ahmad Yani, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 12.
The positive, said Yani, is because to solve Jakarta's problems, such as congestion, flooding, pollution, and prosperity, it's not just about Jakarta itself, but also the surrounding area.
"If we fix all things related to Jakarta but only in Jakarta, it will indeed experience obstacles, there must be cooperation with neighboring cities," he said.
Therefore, in order to resolve these various problems, the Great Jakarta proposal is a very good idea.
However, he also stressed that there must be joint discussions among related regional governments considering that previously the proposal for merging the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) into one had also been rolled out with the Megapolitan concept under Governor Sutiyoso.
Moreover, said Yani, currently being discussed the status of Jakarta if it is no longer the State Capital with the projection that Jakarta will become the center of business and the global economy so that it can have an impact on its buffer zones.
"If indeed these regions have the same concept, regional heads can sit together and form Greater Jakarta, why not?" he said.
In principle, he also sees that with the change, of course he wants to make problems in Jakarta and its surroundings can be resolved and then make the citizens prosperous.
"But again these regional heads have to sit down together to discuss whether they are ready or not to be combined," he said.
Previously, Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris suggested that the suburbs of Jakarta be merged into Greater Jakarta.
"My idea is that if you want the development of Jakarta and its surroundings to be successful, unite Greater Jakarta," said Mohammad Idris after reviewing the slaughtering of sacrifices on Jalan H Icang, Tugu Village, Cimanggis, Sunday (10/7).
According to Idris, the problems that exist in the Jakarta buffer zone can be easily resolved if the areas are merged. He also mentioned the role of a governor for the merging of the region.
"The flood problem, what problem can all be solved. If one governor is Greater Jakarta," he said, also confirming that Depok wanted to enter Jakarta.
