KSP Says Jokowi Has Disbursed Social Assistance To 12,264 Houses Affected By The Earthquake In Sulbar

JAKARTA - Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Abraham Wirotomo, said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had fulfilled his promise to help repair houses for earthquake victims in West Sulawesi (Sulbar).

He said that the fulfillment of the promise was realized through the distribution of housing assistance funds, which currently covers 12,264 units, out of a total of 12,643 beneficiary units that have been verified and validated.

Of these, 11,906 units are currently under construction.

"The affected houses are spread across three regencies, namely Mamuju, Majene, and Mamasa," he said in a press statement, Tuesday, July 12.

He said that while reviewing the earthquake locations in Mamuju and Majene in mid-January 2021, Jokowi ensured that residents whose houses were affected by the earthquake would receive compensation from the government.

The directive, he said, was translated and implemented in the form of a post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction plan document, by each affected area, namely Mamuju, Majene, and Mamasa districts.

"So the distribution of aid is a form of mutual cooperation between ministries/agencies and local governments in carrying out the President's directives, which is to provide financial assistance to repair people's houses that collapsed due to the earthquake." he said.

He said that KSP really appreciated the collaborative work.

For information, the Presidential Staff Office together with ministries/agencies and local governments held a coordination meeting for handling post-earthquake disasters in West Sulawesi.

The coordination meeting which involved KemenkoPMK, Setwapres, Bappenas, Ministry of PUPR, Ministry of Social Affairs, Kemendikbudristek, Ministry of Religion, BNPB, and local governments, was to mitigate and formulate strategic steps for post-disaster management, especially related to the distribution of assistance for repairing collapsed houses.

Based on data from the BNPB Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus, the number of damaged houses in the light, medium and heavy categories was 14,173 units, with a housing stimulant assistance budget of more than Rp342 billion.
