Called His Father Not Ready To Duel With Jake Paul, Tommy Fury: I Have To Sue This Stupid Man
JAKARTA - Tommy Fury denies his father's claim that he is not ready to fight Jake Paul.
John Fury, Tommy's father, told FreeBets his son was "overweight" and "not really training".
"(The duel) was a surprise for him because he only had about 10 days (to train) because he was on vacation," his father was quoted as saying by Marca, Tuesday, July 12.
"I never had a chance to see it properly because I was too busy with this tour and other commitments. When I paid attention, I saw that everything was not right."
No doubt, his father's statement made Tommy angry.
"I have to sue this idiot. Father himself revealed why he withdrew a second time," Fury wrote on Twitter.
Breaking record
Tommy insisted that the travel ban from the United States was the only factor canceling his fight with Paul.
He said on his social media: "Recently on social media I saw more bad things in me than before.
"I just want to get one thing straight, that the reason this fight didn't happen was because I couldn't get into the country. Not because I didn't train or I wasn't fit."
"I was ready and ready to go, I was at the airport Monday morning with my whole team ready to fly and ready to perform. I couldn't get into the country and that's why this fight was off."
"So all this bullshit about me not being ready, not training, forget it. If it's not from me, don't believe it because it's not true."
Fury and Paul previously agreed to fight twice, but Fury backed out of both fights.
He withdrew from the pay-per-view fight on August 6 due to problems with his travel authorization to the US.
Meanwhile, Paul (25) responded to the cancellation by agreeing to a duel with Hasim Rahman Jr. (31) at Madison Square Garden, New York.
Rahman Jr., son of former heavyweight champion Sr., won his first 12 fights, including six by knockout. However, in April, he suffered his first defeat.
