Stranger Things Follows Squid Game Record, Becomes The Most Popular Series And Watched More Than 1 Billion Hours

JAKARTA - The new season of Stranger Things series got the total views of this fictional series to more than 1.15 billion hours. This sci-fi drama, starring Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown, has become the most popular English-language series on Netflix.

Quoted from Reuters, Wednesday, July 6, another series on the platform that was watched more than 1 billion hours was the South Korean drama Squid Game. Stranger Things is also number one on Netflix's Top 10 list in 91 countries, a first for an English-language television series, the company said.

The fourth season of Stranger Things concludes with the final two episodes released last week, which briefly crashed the Netflix app because fans couldn't wait to watch it. The Stranger Things series premiered in 2016.

Set six months after the end of the third season which depicted the fight at the Starcourt mall, the fourth season tells the story of teenagers separated after Eleven (Millie Bobbi Brown) moved to California with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and her two sons, Will and Jonathan.

Eleven who has no social skills and lost her telekinesis power becomes a victim of bullying. Meanwhile, in Hawkins, his friends are living high school life amid a new threat emerging from the Upside Down dimension.

In this fourth season, the story is also about former police chief Hawkins Hopper, the man who adopted Eleven, who is now a prisoner in Russia.
