Bend Kento Momota, Viktor Axelsen Wins Malaysia Open 2022
JAKARTA – Viktor Axelsen won the Malaysia Open 2022. He defeated Japan's Kento Momota.
The world's number one men's singles beat Momota with a sufficient score of 21-4 and 21-7 at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
This was Momota's third defeat against the Danes from their 17 meetings.
This victory made the Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist win his third title in the last three tournaments.
The world number one previously won at the Malaysia Masters and Malaysia Open 2022.
The duel between Axelsen and Momota is the fourth match in the BWF Super 750 level event.
Previously, from the mixed doubles number, the title was brought home by the Chinese pair, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong.
The second seed beat Thailand's first seed, Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
Then the women's doubles title was brought home by Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti. The first podium in women's singles was occupied by Ratchanok Intanon who beat Chen Yufei.
