Food Security Program Support, Head Of Joint Rice Harvesting Headquarters In Karawang
KARAWANG– Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) General TNI Dr. Dudung Abdurachman, SE, MM, fully supports the food security program launched by the government.
One of them is by making the agricultural sector a national strategic program to achieve food self-sufficiency and improve people's welfare.
The form of Kasad's support is in the form of a policy that is conveyed to units of the TNI AD in order to create vacant land into productive land. This land can be used as agricultural land to increase food production, as well as anticipate if at any time a food crisis occurs.
The Kasad policy has been implemented by Pangkostrad Lieutenant General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak through the processing of vacant land belonging to Kostrad covering an area of 37 hectares located in Sadariwan Hamlet, Kedungjaya Village, Cibuaya District, Karawang through cooperation in cultivating rice farming land with local residents.
Kasad came to Sadariwan Hamlet, Kedungjaya Village in addition to carrying out joint harvests on Kostrad's agricultural land which was previously idle land. In addition, at the same time to see how far the response of the TNI AD units that have received orders to implement the Seven Kasad Daily Commands. Especially in point five, where the TNI AD must be present in the midst of community difficulties, whatever the form and always be a solution.
"I want to see how the units implement my orders to help people who are affected by economic problems after Covid-19," said General Dudung, Saturday, July 2.
The rice harvesting activity with the Kasad illustrates the role of the Indonesian Army in helping the community to increase food production, especially rice through escort and assistance to farmers in cultivating land.
“This joint rice harvesting activity has shown the people's togetherness with the Indonesian Army in an effort to succeed one of the Government's programs to create national food security. Therefore, the TNI AD will always be present in the midst of society's difficulties, whatever the difficulties are and can provide solutions," said Dudung.
To support the food security program in the region, the Regent of Karawang, dr. Cellica Nurrachadiana said that the local government of Karawang abolished the 100 percent tax on local farmers in order to help farmers earn their welfare, as well as infrastructure improvements such as irrigation and roads to improve the farmers' economy, including repairing tractor plows free of charge.
On the occasion of this joint harvest, Kasad accompanied by the Regent of Karawang and General Chairperson of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana handed over the gift of rice from the local land to the people of Sadariwan Hamlet, Kedungjaya Village and members of Kostrad whose handover was carried out symbolically.
