Profile Of Tjahjo Kumolo, A PDIP Official Who Became Jokowi's Second Minister
JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Indonesian Bureaucratic Reform Tjahjo Kumolo passed away today at around 11.10 WIB at Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Central Jakarta.
Tjahjo breathed his last while undergoing intensive care as he battled an infectious disease that had spread to his lungs. Tjahjo's health condition was reported to have improved and was stable a few days ago, until now he was summoned by the Almighty.
Tjahjo was born on December 1, 1957 in Solo, Central Java. Tjahjo received his basic education up to university in Semarang. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Dipenogoro University with a law degree in 1985.
Tjahjo is married to Erni Guntarti and has three children, namely Rahajeng Widyaswari, Karunia Putripari Cendana, and Arjuna Cakra Candasa.
Tjahjo began to be active in the organization from a young age. He served as Chairman of the DPD KNPI Dati I Central Java for the period 1985-1988 and Secretary General of the KNPI Dati I Central Java for the period 1987-1990.
His political career began with being a Member of Commission II, III and Member of the DPR RI BKSAP from the Golkar Party. Then, Tjahjo changed his party to the PDI-P. Tjahjo served as a member of parliament from the PDIP Faction from 1999 to 2014.
During his tenure as a member of the council, Tjahjo was the chairman of the PDI-P faction in the DPR RI and also a member of Commission I in charge of defense, foreign affairs and information in the DPR RI.
Tjahjo's role in the PDIP was increasingly seen when he was appointed Secretary General of the PDIP DPP by the PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri from 2010 to 2015, after previously serving as the Chair of the PDIP Political Sector DPP.
When Joko Widodo was elected President of the Republic of Indonesia in the first period, Tjahjo was appointed Minister of Home Affairs from 27 October 2014 to 20 October 2019. Entering the second period, Jokowi brought Tjahjo back into the cabinet and served as Minister of PAN RB until now.
