SIMPANG FOUR - Najjar Lubis (59), a resident of Lubuk Manggis Aek Nabirong, Koto Balingka District, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra, built a road in his hometown using personal funds of up to billions of rupiah.

"I am sincere in building roads for my community. I want to help ease the burden on many people and what I do can be enjoyed so that the community's economy can be improved," said Najjar as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 30.

According to him, the road that has been built is 5 kilometers long from Simaninggir, Koto Balingka District to the Pemambiran area, with a width of 7 meters.

In addition to being opened, hardened and widened, it is also built using the concrete rebate method. Construction of the road he began in 2004.

Initially the road was a path that was passed by about 700 families. Gradually, Najjar opened the road by opening a 7 meter wide road with a road length of 5 kilometers.

After that, hardening and concrete rebate methods were carried out with the aim that the community could travel the road smoothly, especially bringing the community's agricultural products.

"By wide and smooth roads, it will help people bring their agricultural and plantation products out and save expenses," he said.

In addition, Najjar Lubis is currently also starting to open a road from Aek Nabirong to Mandailing Natal (Madina), North Sumatra.

"Currently, 3 kilometers with a width of 12 meters have been successfully opened and until the border will reach 7 kilometers to the border," he said.

According to him, if this shortcut is ready, it will facilitate access from West Pasaman, West Sumatra to Madina Sumut.

"If you take the current road from Aek Nabirong to Madina, it's four hours away, so if the new road is ready it will only take 45 minutes," he said.
