Riau Islands Provincial Government Proposes Determination Of Definitive Bintan Regent To Ministry Of Home Affairs

KEPRI - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) has proposed the appointment of the Acting Regent (Plt) of Bintan Regent Roby Kurniawan to be the definitive regent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

"It has been proposed since early June 2022," said Riau Islands provincial secretary Adi Prihantara in Tanjungpinang, Keprti, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 30.

Adi said the proposed documents for the appointment of the definitive Bintan Regent were carried out online or online. However, he does not yet know when the definitive determination of the status of the Bintan Regent will be determined.

"We are still waiting for the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, after that they will only be sworn in," he said.

Adi continued that after the definitive Bintan Regent was officially inaugurated, it would be followed by filling the position of Deputy Regent of Bintan.

"For the deputy regent, it is proposed by a political party or a coalition of political parties that will carry out the 2020 Bintan Pilbup," he said.

Adi stated that the definitive Bintan Regent's proposal was submitted after the inactive Bintan Regent Apri Sujadi was sentenced to five years in prison by the Tanjungpinang District Court, Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Apri Sujadi was officially detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) due to being entangled in a corruption case regarding the permit for setting quotas for alcoholic beverages and cigarettes on August 12, 2021.

Furthermore, the then Deputy Regent of Bintan Roby Kurniawan was inaugurated as Acting Regent of Bintan by the Governor of Riau Islands Ansar Ahmad on August 24, 2021.

Apri Sujadi and Roby Kurniawan were elected as Regent and Deputy Regent of Bintan Regency for the 2021-2024 period in the 2020 Pilkada.
