DPRD Chairman Says Anies Should Also Make Ali Sadikin The Name Of A Street In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, believes that the Governor of DKI Jakarta should include the name of former DKI Governor Ali Sadikin on a number of street names that have been changed to names of Betawi figures.

One of the reasons Anies made the names of a number of figures into street names is to commemorate the services of those who are considered heroes. So, according to Prasetyo, Ali Sadikin's name should also be the name of a street in Jakarta.

"Ali Sadikin is clearly a person and a meritorious figure. How did Jakarta start as a metropolitan city to date, one of which is Ali Sadikin's services," said Prasetyo in his statement, Wednesday, June 29.

Actually, Prasetyo had asked Anies to change the name of the street in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, namely Jalan Kebon Sirih to Jalan Ali Sadikin. This road stretches from the intersection of Jalan Abdul Muis to the intersection of Jalan Menteng Raya, opposite Tugu Tani, Central Jakarta.

The proposal for naming Ali Sadikin Street was officially conveyed when he held a special plenary meeting to commemorate the 494th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta last year.

In addition to the street names, on the same occasion Prasetyo also suggested that the name Ali Sadikin be enshrined in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Block G building with the names Graha Ali Sadikin, Ali Sadikin Hall, or Home Ali Sadikin.

"I've heard that the proposal was said to be granted at that time. But where until now. It doesn't matter, Jakarta during his (Ali Sadikin) leadership has many successes that have been felt by the community. ," said Prasetyo.

In fact, Prasetyo emphasized that changing street names in Jakarta must also go through long considerations and studies. In addition, it is necessary to form a deliberative body whose contents come from the executive and legislative elements.

"Then did the change in the name of the road involve the DKI DPRD? No. Even though the rules and procedures had previously been stated in the Governor's Decree, which was issued by Governor Sutiyoso," said Prasetyo.
