Affirms Indonesia's Presidential Government System, Megawati Threatens To Fire Cadres Talking Coalition

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri reminded that the government system in Indonesia is presidential, not parliamentary. He admitted that he was confused when someone talked about the coalition.

In front of her cadres, including President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who attended the PDIP National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Megawati said the presidential system does not recognize coalitions.

"Our system is a presidential system, not a parliamentary system. As a result, I am confused, Mr. President, how come you say coalition, coalition, coalition, no, no," Megawati said while addressing her cadres.

Instead of a coalition, continued Megawati, political parties should work together in solving the nation's problems. "If we work together, yes," he said.

"Why? I will continue to follow the coalition, which is called the selection of prime ministers. What's the difference? Because we don't have a prime minister," added the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

For this reason, Megawati asked her cadres not to discuss the coalition. If there are still people who insist on talking, he asks the cadre to leave the party.

The reason is that Megawati thinks that the cadres do not understand the state administration system used in the country. "This is our state system, we know it or not," he said.

"If there are still people who talk about the PDI-P about coalition affairs, coalitions, get out! That means they don't understand our constitutional system," he said.

Megawati emphasized that what she said was a criticism of the state administration system. Moreover, there are still those who do not understand this matter.

"There are those from the opposition, right, there are those who follow, there must be a count, your vote is piro (how many), your seat is piro (how many) Maune (wants) to be opo (what). We don't, "he said.

"It's not me, this is constructive criticism, you know, don't play with me being overthrown, fried. This is the governance and state administration of the Republic of Indonesia, you know, I can't stand it anymore," concluded Megawati.
