Wants To Hang Up His Boots At Napoli, Koulibaly Is Willing To Refuse Juventus And Chelsea Offers
JAKARTA - Kalidou Koulibaly will meet the end of his contract with Napoli next year. However, the defender has expressed his desire to stay at Napoli until his retirement.
Koulibaly's contract expires in 2023, but Napoli have yet to offer a new contract for the 30-year-old. If this continues, Koulibaly could leave in the transfer window this season.
The situation of the player attracted the interest of another Serie A club, Juventus to ask for his hand. The Bianconeri are intrigued by the experience and duration of the defender, who has been in Italy for eight years.
Not only Juventus, from an English club there is Chelsea who are also eager to be able to bring in Koulibaly. The Blues are eyeing Koulibaly to fill the vacant position left by Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid.
To persuade Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are willing to offer a salary of 165,000 pounds per week or IDR 2.9 billion. The amount of this salary is much greater than that obtained by the former Metz center back with Napoli which is only 100 thousand pounds per week.
Despite getting a fantastic salary offer, but sources in Italy say Koulibaly does not seem to be tempted by it. Instead of turning away, the defender from Senegal is still waiting for a new contract offer from Napoli.
“Koulibaly's main priority is to reach a new contract agreement with Napoli. In addition, Koulibaly also hopes to hang up his boots at the Naples club,'' La Repubblica reports as reported by Sportsmole.
Koulibaly's intention was reinforced by the statement of the agent, Fali Ramadani. He once revealed that his client had no interest in leaving I Partenopei. Ramadani also firmly denied rumors of negotiations between him as Koulibaly's representative and with other clubs.
''There are so many rumors about it. I want to clarify, we are not in talks with any club. We are still waiting for a meeting with the club management (Napoli) and looking for the best solution for both parties,'' Ramadani told Corriere dello Sports, late last month.
Since being recruited by Napoli in 2014 with a dowry of 6.5 million pounds, Koulibaly has been able to become a mainstay at the heart of the Napoli defense. In eight years, he has made 317 appearances for Napoli in all competitions.
During that period, Koulibaly was also able to lead I Partenopei to the Coppa Italia title in the 2019/2020 season and the Italian Super Cup in 2014. This record made the player a target for Juventus and Chelsea who are still trying to get his services.
