SURABAYA - A hajj candidate from Pamekasan Regency, Madura, East Java, has canceled his trip to the Holy Land this year. She is May, 41, a pilgrim who is a member of the flying group (kloter) 23 who is five weeks pregnant.
"The officer in question was found to be pregnant while attending the WUS (Women of Childbearing Age) examination," said Head of the Regional Office of the East Java Ministry of Religion, Husnul Maram, in Surabaya, Monday, June 20.
Because it was known that she was pregnant, continued Maram, the health team finally decided to postpone the departure of the pilgrims this year. Meanwhile, Mei's husband also decided not to go to the holy land this year.
"Because his wife was pregnant, and her departure was postponed. Her husband also decided to postpone his departure, because his wife was pregnant," he said.
Previously, there was also a pilgrim from Sumenep who was found to be pregnant while still in his area. So they also don't go to the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory.
Until now, Maram said that four hajj candidates had canceled their trip to the Holy Land because they were pregnant. They come from Kab. Nganjuk, Kab. Probolinggo, Kab. Sumenep, and Kab. Pakistan.
"So that up to today, there are four pilgrims who have delayed leaving because they are pregnant, with the gestational age of under 14 weeks," he said.
PPIH Embarkation Surabaya has dispatched 23 groups with a total of 10,299 hajj pilgrims to the holy land as of May 20, 2022. The group of pilgrims departed via Juanda International Airport Surabaya in Sidoarjo, and is now in Medina.
