JAKARTA - Investigators from the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) have found allegations of corruption related to the practice of gratification and extortion by employees of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"Based on the results of the case, it was concluded that in the investigation process there was sufficient preliminary evidence so that it met the requirements to be upgraded to an investigation," said Head of the Jakarta Attorney's Office Legal Information Section, Ashari Syam in a written statement in Jakarta, Friday, June 17, quoted from Antara.

Ashari explained that the Assistant for Special Crimes (Aspidsus) of the Jakarta Attorney General's Office held a case related to the investigation of alleged corruption in the form of gratification and extortion to employees of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2020-2021.

From the results of the case title, investigators from the Aspidsus Prosecutor's Office found incidents suspected of criminal acts of corruption, namely the existence of gratification and extortion carried out by officials of the Head of the Mutation Division of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2020-2021.

Ashari suspected that the official had abused his authority by forcing several heads of detention centers and/or correctional institutions to hand over a sum of money with the promise of getting promotions.

"If they do not submit a certain amount of money, they are threatened with transfer of position," said Ashari.

Ashari stated that the Jakarta Attorney General's Office Aspidsus investigator team would immediately carry out the investigation process by first calling witnesses within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia and other related parties.
