Getting To Know The Low Emission Zones That Will Be Implemented In Tebet Eco Park
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will turn the Tebet Eco Park area, Tebet, South Jakarta, into a low emission zone. This decision was made to fix the chaos of Tebet Eco Park, which has a lot of visitors.
So, what is meant by a low emission zone? A low emission zone (LEZ) is an area that can only be crossed by vehicles with low emission levels or even no emissions.
Determination of an area as a low emission zone aims to reduce gas emissions caused by motorized vehicles. In a sense, it is hoped that it will reduce air pollution and encourage changes in the use of vehicle modes.
So far, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has designated the Kota Tua area as a low emission zone. This zone applies to Jalan Pintu Besar Utara, Jalan Kalibesar Barat on the south side, Jalan Kunir on the south side, Jalan Kemukus, Jalan Ketumbar, and Jalan Lada.
Since February 8, 2021, the DKI Provincial Government has made traffic engineering that limits motorized vehicles that pass through the area with the aim of improving air quality in Kota Tua.
This low emission zone area is only allowed for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport, and vehicles with special labels operating within the area. Policy implementation is valid 24 hours.
Based on the results of the DKI Provincial Government's monitoring of air quality in the Kota Tua area, there has been a significant increase in the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) before LEZ was implemented, ISPU was 58 and 53 (Medium category), while after LEZ was applied the ISPU value was 49 (Good category). ).
Back to the Tebet Eco Park, the application of the low emission zone will take effect after the park reopens at the end of June 2022. Currently, Tebet Eco Park is closed for facility improvements.
When it was re-opened, Anies said that visitors' vehicles were prohibited from entering the area on weekends, except for residents who lived around the Tebet Eco Park. In addition, Anies will also limit the number of visitors and improve the environmental conditions of the Tebet Eco Park.
