Eri Cahyadi Guarantees Sacrificial Animals Enter Surabaya Safe From PMK
SURABAYA - Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi ensures that all animals entering his territory are safe from Mouth and Nail Diseases (FMD). Because, all livestock from outside that want to enter Surabaya must pass a health check.
"Ahead of Eid al-Adha, friends from the Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP), have moved to ensure that the livestock in the city of Surabaya are healthy," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, in Surabaya, Wednesday, June 15.
Eri Cahyadi ensured that animal health checks would be strictly enforced ahead of Eid al-Adha. He said, the Surabaya City Government together with the Police were intense in preventing and controlling PMK, as an effort to monitor livestock that would enter Surabaya.
In addition, Eri Cahyadi also stated that the city government and the police had increased supervision of livestock that would enter the Slaughterhouse (RPH). This is done to ensure that the animal already has a health permit and is free from PMK.
"The livestock that came to Surabaya were also checked by friends from the agriculture office to ensure (their health). We are also collaborating with friends in East Java," he said.
For example, monitoring and checking livestock, one of which is carried out by the Karangpilang sub-district together with the local police at around 23.00 WIB, Tuesday, June 14, 2022. In this inspection, every vehicle transporting livestock will be checked for documents and their health condition.
The Head of Karangpilang Sub-district in Surabaya, Febriadhitya Prajatara, stated that his party and the police were intensely monitoring and supervising livestock that would enter the city of Surabaya. This includes the supervision of livestock in the Kedurus RPH.
"Obviously this is a step from our government and the police to secure it, especially ahead of Eid al-Adha," he said.
Febriadhitya also emphasized that his party and the police did not hesitate to turn the vehicle of the owner of the livestock around if it was not equipped with a health permit from the area of origin.
"Well, when there is a condition of livestock that will enter the RPH but do not have a permit, of course we turn it around," he said.
Not only that, the former Head of Public Relations of the Surabaya City Government also said that every trader who wants to sell livestock or sacrifices must be accompanied by a permit from the DKPP.
Before the qurban animal entrepreneur sells in the Karangpilang area, DKPP will conduct a survey and check.
"Later on, a survey will be carried out first to ensure what kind of health fellow animal health workers from DKPP have," he said.
