Banners Saying Khilafatul Muslimin Shock Residents In Tapin, South Kalimantan Police Step In

BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) is now monitoring the alleged presence of members of the Khilafatul Muslimin who are reported to be in Tapin Regency.

"Members in the field continue to approach the local government regarding the appearance of banners reading Khilafatul Muslimin in front of residents' homes," said Head of Public Relations of the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Mochamad Rifa'i, in Banjarmasin, Antara, Wednesday, June 15.

He also appealed to the public to remain calm and not be provoked by the incident. Tapin Police with Kesbangpol Tapin Regency are still coordinating to carry out preemptive efforts so that the problems that arise do not widen.

Rifa'i said that the current conducive situation in South Kalimantan should not be tainted by unnecessary things. For this reason, the public is reminded to stay smart in dealing with every problem.

"Let's maintain the conduciveness of this safe and peaceful area. Don't do things that make the situation cloudy," he said.

The existence of the Khilafatul Muslimin surfaced after the Polda Metro Jaya arrested a number of its leaders in a number of regions in Indonesia.

Khilafatul Muslimin is known to be an organization suspected by the police of spreading the concept of the caliphate and wanting a new state system and threatening the Pancasila ideology.
