Use Skincare Routine There Is A Dose, You Know! Don't Let It Be Too Much, This Is A Dermatologist's Recommendation

YOGYAKARTA – How many doses to use facial wash in one use? It turns out that most of them are not only wasteful but also affect skin health. At this point, many people don't really know that using cleansers, toners, moisturizers, sunscreens, serums, eye creams, and masks need to be applied in the right quantities. According to board-certified dermatologists Corey L. Hartman, MD., Michele Green, MD., and Hadley King, MD., here are some appropriate amounts for your daily skincare routine.

1. Facial Cleanser

The facial skin area is much smaller than the skin on other parts of the body. Thus, you do not need to use a facial wash or facial soap in large doses. Using too much cleanser won't make the cleaning product any more effective, says Hartman.

You only need to use one pump, if the size of the applicator is in the form of a pump. If not, you can use just enough. When mixed with water, facial washes are usually foamy, this can be applied to the forehead until the chin goes down to the neck.

2. Toner

Toner is usually a liquid texture. Many products recommend using cotton to apply it on the face. Hartman recommends pouring directly into hands to gently pat all over the face. While doing so, avoid the eye area, nostrils, and around the mouth that are prone to irritation.

3. Serum

To use a serum, you don't need to spend a lot which is applied to the entire face and neck. Just use a few drops. Hartman advises, put a few drops on the forehead, a drop on the nose and chin, and two to three drops on the cheeks. Then smooth it by gently patting the serum on the skin until it is completely absorbed.

4. Eye cream

The eye area is only small, meaning that applying eye cream properly can give anti-aging results to work optimally. According to Hartman, a pea-sized cream is enough to apply to both eyes. His advice again, use your ring finger which gives less pressure than the other fingers.

5. Moisturizer

As much as two milligrams of moisturizer can be applied to every square centimeter of your facial skin. For normal to combination skin, moisturizer is the size of a small coin to be applied to the face every time you use it. If the skin is too dry, a little more than the size of a small coin. Also make sure to apply it evenly all over the face to the neck.

6. Sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen is important because it helps protect the skin from UV rays. King's recommended guideline, apply a coin-sized amount to the entire face. Estimates, every one square centimeter requires two milligrams of sunscreen with an SPF content.

7. Mask

Masks require a higher dose than previous skincare products. In the use of masks, there is no set amount because usually each product has a different dosage. However, Green recommends applying according to the instructions for both the dose and the frequency of use.

Hartman provides more specific recommendations. According to him, the dose is based on a thin layer of usage.
