Whoops! Some Of The Crystals On Marilyn Monroe's Dress Disappear After Wearing Kim Kardashian

JAKARTA - The historic Marilyn Monroe dress worn by Kim Kardashian at the 2022 Met Gala is reportedly damaged, according to an observer, quoted by the New York Post, Tuesday.

Marilyn Monroe Collection's Instagram account on Monday posted a new photo showing the gorgeous dress Monroe wore to sing "Happy Birthday Mr. President" in 1962 to then-President John F. Kennedy.

But the dress appears to be missing some crystals, the account claims, which adds that some of the other crystals are hanging by a thread.

I also uploaded a video of the dress when it was exhibited in 2016. Compared to the latest video after being worn by Kim Kadarshian, the difference is obvious.

Kardashian vowed not to make any changes to the dress, and changed herself instead. She admits that she has lost more than 7 kg in three weeks to "fit" in the dress

Kim Kardashian was finally able to wear the dress, but reportedly couldn't unzip it. "I tried it and it just didn't fit me," Kardashian recalled on the red carpet as she retold the story of her first install.

“That is a challenge. It was like a role, I was determined to fit into it," he said.

The Post has reached out to representatives for Kardashian as well as Ripley, where the dress is currently on display, for comment.

In 2016, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando bought the dress for 4.8 million US dollars. Ripley told The Post that the dress was the "world's most expensive dress" ever sold at auction. The dress is now worth more than 10 million US dollars.

Kim Kardashian only wore a Monroe artifact for a few minutes. She wore a dress in the dressing room near the Met Gala carpet and changed into a replica gown as soon as she climbed the stairs.

Several experts and collectors have previously "punished" Kardashian for wearing the 60-year-old outfit, telling The Post that the outfit was "very fragile" and that "anything could have happened to her".

An expert also suggested to The Post that "sweat, perfume, and makeup" could get into the dress and cause "uncountable damage and stains," though Kardashian was reportedly makeup-free to the event.

A Ripley representative also told The Post last month that she showed the highest respect for the outfit, adding that no damage had been done to the dress.
