Locals Complained About Street Vendors And Illegal Parking At Tebet Eco Park, Deputy Governor Of DKI: We'll Overcome Soon

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria responded to complaints from local residents about the chaos of the Tebet Eco Park area, South Jakarta, due to the appearance of street vendors (PKL) and illegal parking attendants.

Riza said he was grateful to the residents who reported this condition. He promised that the problems felt by the residents of Tebet who were disturbed by the chaos of the Tebet Eco Park would be resolved.

"Of course we are grateful that Eco Park Tebet has the support of the community to visit. Yes, in such an atmosphere there could be other people who can take advantage of it, including using illegal parking. Thank you for your input, we will immediately address it," said Riza at the Balai DKI City, Monday, June 13.

Regarding the emergence of illegal parking that interferes with the road to the sidewalks around Tebet Eco Park, Riza said the DKI Provincial Government will increase the capacity of the official parking pockets. Thus, the park's visitor's vehicle, which was inaugurated two months ago, will be more organized.

"Indeed, if there is an increase, now Tebet Eco Park is getting more and more enthusiasts who come there, so the need for parking is also getting bigger, higher. Of course we will adjust it. This means, there needs to be additional parking," said Riza.

Meanwhile, against the emergence of street vendors who are considered to be selling without a permit in residential areas around Tebet Eco Park, the DKI Provincial Government will also prepare special stalls so as not to disturb the surroundings.

"Places for people to sell products, goods, culinary, later of course in Tebet we will think about it," he said.

Previously, a resident named Ricky Siahaan who claimed to be a resident of Tebet complained about the condition of the Tebet Eco Park which was detrimental to local residents because it was disorderly and chaotic.

"Currently, my family and I are one of many sections of Tebet residents who have reached a point of frustration with the chaos caused by Tebet Eco Park," said Ricky Siahaan on his Instagram account rickysiahaan.

In his Instagram account, Ricky Siahaan views that the DKI Provincial Government is not mature in planning parking infrastructure to MSME stalls in revitalizing the park. So, what happened was that illegal parking attendants and street vendors selling without a permit became rampant.

"Illegal parking attendants who come out of nowhere have made the road that was previously not allowed to park into a public parking lot. As a result, the road gets jammed every day. Worst case is during weekends and holidays," said Ricky Siahaan.

"Street vendors sell solidly without a permit right in front of people's homes. Due to the large number of merchandise, garbage is a daily problem for local residents," he continued.
