Cooking Oil Move! Minister Of Trade M. Lutfi Happy Exporting Pot Lids To Turkey Free Of Import Duty

JAKARTA - The government through the Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi revealed that exports of tempered glass pot lids to Turkey are now free of anti-dumping duties (BMAD). According to the Minister of Trade, this is an achievement in itself considering that previously the implementation of BMAD levies had been in effect for the last 10 years.

"We appreciate the decision taken by the Turkish government. This is mainly because only pot lid products from Indonesia and Hong Kong have had their BMAD discontinued," he said in a press statement quoted on Sunday, June 12.

The Trade Minister explained that since April 2021, Turkey has started an investigation into the extension of the application of the BMAD on pot lid products originating from Indonesia, China and Hong Kong. The implementation of BMAD on pot lid products from Indonesia began on May 5, 2010.

“Turkey will continue to apply the BMAD to pot lid products from China. This achievement is certainly good news for Indonesian exporters because it has been more than 10 years since access to the Indonesian pot lid market to Turkey has been hampered by the implementation of the BMAD," he said.

Furthermore, the Minister of Trade assessed the decision taken by the Turkish government based on the results of the investigation carried out. He said the investigation showed that there was no possibility of continued dumping or losses to the Turkish domestic industry if the application of BMAD on imports of pot lid products from Indonesia and Hong Kong was stopped.

"This positive result cannot be separated from the excellent cooperation between the relevant ministries and the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara. Turkey is one of the countries that is actively conducting anti-dumping investigations and trade safeguards against Indonesian export products," he said.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia last exported pot lid products (HS 70102000) to Turkey in 2018 with an export value of 139,200 and an export volume of 76.6 tons.

"We hope that Indonesian pot lid exporters can take advantage of this good momentum to boost their exports to the Turkish market. We also hope that this success baton can continue in other cases that are currently still in the process of being handled,” concluded the Minister of Trade M. Lutfi.
