JAKARTA - Mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto said that the services of his team Rinov Rivaldy / Pitha Haningtyas were still a homework after defeat in the last eight of the Indonesia Masters 2022.

Rinov/Pitha's journey ran aground in the BWF Super 500 event after they were defeated by Thailand's Supak Jomkoh/Supissara Paewsampran in a two-game straight match, 21-13 and 21-14 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, June 10.

"Initially maybe from the service, and that often happens. If the service is not good, especially Mentari is no longer confident. From the beginning it took a long time to look for points, when it was easy for the opponent to find points from there, we were a bit more bearable," said Nova after the game.

Nova explained that the service problem made the Rinov/Pitha game less convincing. In addition to service problems, the 201u junior world champion's power is also still lacking.

He continued, this power problem requires long-term practice rather than serving. For this reason, Nova hopes that this service problem must be addressed immediately if he wants to win big events.

"Because serving is easy, but the most important thing is because all games come from serving," said Nova.

Nova said Rinov/Pitha's defeat at the Indonesia Masters was very unfortunate. The reason is, in the top half of the draw the mixed doubles strength is quite evenly distributed.

The equal strength, said Nova, should open up opportunities for Rinov/Pitha to reach the final. Especially on the way to the quarter-finals they beat Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.

"Actually, our chance to get to the final is big, because it is balanced and there are not too many superiors, and the game is also not too superior. So it's a shame, but what can we do," he said.

Rinov/Pitha is one of the representatives of Indonesia who failed to make it to the semifinals. One other representative who failed to get a ticket for the top four was the women's doubles, Febby Valencia Dwijayanti/Ribka Sugiarto.
