Corruption Detainees Increase, KPK Increases Prison Capacity At Mako Puspomaal
JAKARTA - The increasing number of suspects in corruption cases has prompted the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to increase the capacity of detention centers by cooperating with the Navy Military Police (Puspomal) TNI.
Not only that, the addition of this facility is also a form of synergy between the anti-corruption commission and other law enforcement officers.
"The provision of detention facilities by the TNI Puspomal is a form of the KPK's synergy with other law enforcement officers in carrying out the task of eradicating corruption," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri during an audience with the KPK with Puspomal at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, 10 June.
After this new collaboration, the new prisoners appointed by the KPK will be placed in the KPK East Jakarta Class 1 Detention Center Branch at Mako Puspomall, Jalan Boulevard Bukit Hading Raya, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
Complementing Firli's statement, KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata said that his party actually did not want to increase the number of detention houses. "However, the number of suspects suspected of corruption crimes is increasing day by day," he said.
Later, the KPK detention room at Mako Puspomal TNI will be built for a capacity of 16 detainees. The plan, the detention room will be used for male prisoners.
For information, the KPK has three detention centers, namely the Red and White Prison on Jalan Kuningan Persada Lot 4, Setiabudi, South Jakarta; Guntur Rutan on Jalan Sultan Agung, South Jakarta; and C1 Rutan The old KPK Building, Jalan HR Rasuna Said Kavling C1 Setiabudi, South Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the Naval Military Police Center (Danpuspomal) Rear Admiral Edwin said he was happy and would continue to support the KPK. Moreover, the cooperation between these two institutions also includes anti-corruption education activities.
Later, the KPK will conduct anti-corruption socialization and technical guidance (bimtek) activities for members of the Danpuspomal TNI and their families. "In the future, we will always support and assist the KPK," said Edwin
