Borobudur Tickets Pegged At IDR 750 Thousand Luhut Asks People Not To Sing

JAKARTA - The Democrat Party politician Cipta Panca Laksana was furious with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who asked the public not to overreact about the increase in Borobudur Temple tickets.

Luhut announced a plan to increase the entrance fee to Borobudur Temple for domestic tourists by Rp. 750 thousand, while foreign tourists are USD 100.

The policy to erode visitors up to Borobudur Temple was widely criticized by the public. Panca assessed that Luhut had acted recklessly by trying to talk about raising tariffs without prioritizing many parties.

"He makes arbitrary policies," said Panca via his Twitter account, @panca66, quoted on Friday, June 10.

However, the plan to increase the tariff, which has invited reactions from many parties, including protests from various groups of people due to the high entry fee, is considered by Luhut to be excessive.

According to Panca, the people's actions to criticize government policies have a reason. Panca assessed that the people were unhappy that they had complained, but the minister responded that they had acted excessively.

"Eh, he is also the one who sticks out blaming the people who protest. It's really bad to be a citizen, hahaha," he said.

Previously, Luhut asked the public not to overreact to the planned increase in entrance fees for Borobudur Temple. Luhut said the figures had been exchanged with UNESCO.

"So we shouldn't be a cynical nation like that, you know," said Luhut at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, June 9.
