One Of The Most Anticipated UFC Duels Almost Comes True: Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs Tony Ferguson In The Ultimate Fighter
JAKARTA - UFC President Dana White is willing to accept the idea of staging a season of The Ultimate Fighter between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
The idea was originally proposed by Ferguson, and Nurmagomedov, who retired from the UFC and focused on being an Eagle FC promoter, accepted it.
Even though they have never met face to face, there are still conflicts between the two, as seen in their clashes on social media.
White seems open to making the Nurmagomedov/Ferguson duel a reality.
"I would consider it ... I would absolutely consider the idea," White said in an interview with Barstool Sports.
"Hopefully, they'll be angry enough with each other to want to fight."
Nurmagomedov retired from the octagon after defeating Justin Gaethje in defending his last lightweight title at UFC 254. He had an unbeaten record at the time of retirement and successfully defended his belt against some of the best lightweights of all time including Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
Meanwhile, Ferguson recently lost to Michael Chandler at UFC 274, putting him on a four-game losing streak, but he remains a fan favorite at UFC.
Despite plans to bring Nurmagomedov to Ferguson, White insists on Francis Ngannou .'s contract
"It's business as usual, no 'losses'," White told The Underground of his relationship with Ngannou.
“This is all a business matter and we will see how it turns out. Francis has a knee injury now, we are waiting for that, we will see how long it will last. A duel between Jones and Stipe probably makes sense, whether it's in Las Vegas or New York."
