Makes A Blunder During The Barcelona MotoGP Race, Aleix Espargaro: This Is The Biggest Mistake, I'm Sorry

JAKARTA - Aprilia Racing's Aleix Espargaro made a fatal mistake during the Barcelona MotoGP race at the Catalunya Circuit, Sunday, June 5. His mistake made him lose the second podium.

At that time, Aleix Espargaro seemed to slow down after crossing the finish line when the race still had one lap left. Many thought the Spaniard had an engine problem.

However, Aleix Espargaro actually slowed down thinking the race was over. He only realized that the race still had one lap left after Jorge Martin, Johann Zarco and Joan Mir overtook him quickly.

"This is a big mistake in MotoGP. I didn't have enough time to read all the information. I focused away from Jorge Martin and didn't have time to see the remaining laps," said Espargaro in an interview with MotoGP.

"I looked up at the tower and saw L1 and didn't remember that it was supposed to be 0. It's completely my fault. I apologize to the team and I hope to have a good race in Germany."

When he woke up, Aleix Espargaro was also overtaken by Luca Marini. However, the 32-year-old racer was able to overtake the VR46 Racing Team racer and finish in fifth position.

"It's completely my fault, nobody's fault. We have the information on the board, but I didn't have time to read it. It's completely my fault, I hope I don't repeat it again," he said.

"Unfortunately I lost a few points, nine points. Hopefully I can recover it in Germany," concluded Aleix Espargaro.
