Husband And Wife In Semarang Invite Their 5-Year-Old Child To Take Cellphones, The Money To Buy Rice And Pay Motorbike Installments
SEMARANGA - Police have arrested a husband and wife in Semarang City who are a gang of perpetrators of cell phone seizures. Both of them have acted in a number of locations in the capital city of Central Java.
The Head of Semarang Polrestabes Kombes Irwan Anwar said that the pair of perpetrators of HTS (25) and RTY (23) residents of Tawang Mas, West Semarang last took action to snatch a cell phone belonging to a student of SD Sadeng, Gunungpati, on May 24, 2022.
The husband and wife couple took their 5-year-old child when they took the cell phone belonging to an elementary school student with the initials AMP (12).
According to Irwan, in action the perpetrator pretended to borrow a phone to contact his family because his cell phone data package ran out. "With persuasion, the perpetrator borrowed the victim's cellphone," he said in Semarang, Antara, Thursday, June 2.
When the victim was careless and the situation was quiet, the perpetrator who was riding a motorcycle immediately fled. From the results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted that he had acted in a number of different locations with adult victims.
"The mode is the same, pretending the data package runs out, borrowing a phone, then running away immediately," he said.
In action, continued Irwan, the perpetrator used a motorbike with a fake number plate to complicate the search.
Meanwhile, the stolen cell phones were then sold online, the money being used to pay for motorbikes and buy rice.
During the investigation, he said, the police expressed their appreciation to the friends of the victims who took photos of the perpetrators in action.
"The victim's friend took a photo of the perpetrator's vehicle number plate which later became a clue," he said.
For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft.
