BPS: Horticultural Farmers' Exchange Rate In May 2022 Increases By 2.75 Percent
JAKARTA - Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Margo Yuwono said that the farmer's exchange rate (NTP) for the horticulture subsector in May 2022 rose 2.75 percent.
"This happened because the price index received by farmers, which reached 3.23 percent, was higher than the price index paid by the role model, which was 0.46 percent," said Margo Yuwono during a press conference received in Jakarta, Thursday.
The increase in the price index received by farmers in the horticulture sub-sector was caused by the 0.68 percent increase in the price index for vegetables, especially shallots and cabbage.
Meanwhile for the medicinal plant group, especially ginger and cardamom commodities, the index decreased by 0.21 percent.
Meanwhile, the NTP of smallholder plantations experienced the deepest decline of 9.29 percent, because the index of prices received by farmers fell by 8.82 percent. Meanwhile, the index paid by farmers increased by 0.51 percent.
"The decrease in the price index received by farmers was caused by the decrease in the index of the smallholder plantation group, especially oil palm and rubber commodities," said Margo.
Margo explained that the national NTP in May 2022 was 105.41, down 2.81 percent compared to the previous month's NTP.
The decrease in NTP was due to the price index received by farmers falling 2.37 percent. Meanwhile, the price index paid by farmers rose 0.46 percent.
In May 2022, the NTP of Riau Province experienced the largest decline (14.57 percent) compared to the decline in the NTP of other provinces. In contrast, the NTP of Central Java Province experienced the highest increase (1.02 percent) compared to the increase in the NTP of other provinces.
