Leaving Real Madrid, Gareth Bale Sends Touching Messages
JAKARTA - Gareth Bale is already at Real Madrid's exit after nine years with the club. He also marked the farewell with a very touching message.
Bale and Real will officially part ways at the end of this season. The Wales international's contract expires on June 30.
Before the separation, this 32-year-old player also poured out his heart on Instagram social media. In the post, Bale described his career at the Santiago Bernabeu as an unforgettable experience.
"I am writing this message to thank all of my team-mates, past and present, my manager, the dressing room staff and to the fans who have supported me," Bale wrote.
"I arrived here nine years ago as a young man who wanted to fulfill my dream of playing for Real Madrid. Wearing a pure white shirt, wearing the crest on my chest, playing at the Santiago Bernabeu," he continued.
During his career at Madrid, Bale won a number of important titles before drawing criticism from a number of Spanish media and supporters in recent years.
The last title he could achieve was the recent European Champions League after El Real beat Liverpool. Although in the final match he spent his time on the bench.
It was the fifth title for the former Tottenham Hotspur player in the prestigious European event. Previously he shared the same title in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
"Winning the title and being part of what is so famous, winning the Champions League, I can now look back, reflect and honestly say that this dream came true and so much more," Bale wrote.
In addition to five European Champions League trophies, Bale has also collected three La Liga titles, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and the Copa del Rey, since joining from Spurs for 100 million euros in 2013.
"Being part of the history of this club and achieving what we achieved when I was a Real Madrid player has been an amazing experience and one I will never forget," added Bale.
"Together we were able to create some moments that will live on forever in the history of this club and football. It is an honor. Thank you. Hala Madrid."
It is not yet known which club Bale will play for next season. However, Spurs and Cardiff City have been touted as leading fans despite speculation he will move to Major League Soccer (MLS) in America.
