Camila Giorgi's Sexy Tennis Controversy: Used To Pose In Lingerie, Now Plays With Kitchen Appliances Company Logos
JAKARTA - A tennis star who has attracted attention for her sexy photos on social media, is again facing intense scrutiny in her dress. This time in a match at the French Open.
Camila Giorgi of Italy has been at Roland Garros for the past week fighting for her second Grand Slam title of the season. After two convincing wins in the opening two rounds over Zhang Shuai and Yulia Putintseva, Giorgi booked a third-round tie with world number four Aryna Sabalenka at the weekend.
On the eve of his Grand Slam match, the Italian was causing all sorts of controversy for his outfit choices at Roland Garros. As Giorgi walked onto the Paris clay court, he was pulled aside by the match referee, who appeared to have a problem with the 30-year-old's outfit.
Match officials did not like the size of the De'Longhi logo on Giorgi's shirt. The kitchen equipment company logo was considered too big. However, the Italian admitted he had no other alternative.
Via Marca, Giorgi said: “I don't have a change, this is my only outfit. I've played with this before."
Despite the controversy, Giorgi was finally allowed to play, and that's no doubt because it was worth a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over one of the world's best players at Sabalenka.
This isn't the first time the Italian has raised eyebrows with his outfit choices.
Ahead of his appearance at Wimbledon last year, a number of sexy photos appeared on the Italian star's social media accounts. Giorgi had time to share a photo of himself posing in white lingerie, which was originally uploaded to his Instagram in early 2021.
The original image - which was uploaded in three separate posts - garnered more than 150,000 likes and more than 3,000 comments after being shared with its 602,000 followers.
Now, Giorgi's action at Roland Garros has ended. On Monday, she was beaten in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 by Daria Kasatkina of Russia.
Once again, via Instagram, Giorgi signaled his departure with a post on his story that read 'Merci Paris'.
