Deputy Of Golkar Asks Desmond Not To Interfere With The United Indonesia Coalition
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar DPP for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) Adies Kadir responded to the statement by the Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees Desmond Mahesa.
Desmond said that the general chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, was not clear on which direction to carry the Golkar Party as a presidential candidate in 2024 because of the issue of the 'coup' of the National Conference of the People's Republic of Indonesia.
Adies denied Desmond's conclusion. For Adies, currently there are only two political parties (Parpol) that clearly have tickets to run for the presidential election, namely PDIP and the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) formed by the Golkar Party, PAN and PPP.
Therefore, Adies asked Desmond to focus on taking care of the party's own household so that he can immediately get a coalition partner and run in the Pilres, without dealing with KIB.
"Desmond doesn't have to worry about us, who clearly already have tickets to run in the presidential election. Because currently only PDIP and KIB can clearly nominate their own presidential and vice presidential candidates without a coalition. Other parties don't have tickets automatically to nominate candidates, even though they have some of them already have their own candidates," said Adies in a written statement, Tuesday, May 31.
"The Golkar Party clearly in the National Deliberation (Munas) supports Pak Airlangga Hartarto as a Presidential Candidate. But with the formation of KIB, joint discussions between coalition parties are needed to determine who will be the presidential and vice presidential candidates," continued Adies.
The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR explained that the direction and purpose of KIB was very clear. So, continued Adies, it is not true what Desmon said that the direction of the Golkar Party, PAN and PPP is not clear in facing the upcoming 2024 election.
"Currently we at KIB are still in the early stages, still making strategies for recruiting candidates, candidate criteria, how to form a coalition and how to win candidates. So, the issue of KIB is still in process, even though we in the Golkar Party have already determined Pak Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate," said Adies.
Therefore, Adies reminded Desmond not to take care of the KIB household which was being initiated by the three parties.
He asked Desmond to focus on managing his own party, which is still looking for a coalition to fight in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
"If Mr. Desmond says that KIB and Mr. Airlangga are not clear, it means that Mr. Desmond has entered our internal realm. He as an outsider does not understand how our spiritual situation is in KIB's internal. Ethically, it is appropriate not to take care of other people's parties, it is enough take care of his own party. We have never bothered Pak Desmond's party, "Adies explained.
