Sinjai Regency Government Empowers Widows As Craftsmen Of Barania Tourism Village

MAKASSAR - The Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud) of Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi, empowers single parents to become craftsmen in Barania Village, West Sinjai, which is one of 50 participants in the 2022 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) event.

Kadisparbud Sinjai Yuhadi Samad when confirmed from Makassar, Tuesday, May 31, said the women had the expertise to make various traditional agricultural equipment such as hoes, machetes or sickles.

"So there is a group of craftsmen consisting of six women, all of whom are the life support of the family. They are blacksmiths whose work is worthy of competition," she said, quoted by Antara. when welcoming the assessment team or visitation of the 2022 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) which is planned to be attended directly by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno. The ADWI visitation team will assess several categories including visitor attraction, home stay, souvenirs, digital and creative, public toilets, tourism village institutions, Cleanliness, Health, Safety & Environment Sustainability (CHSES).

"Especially for the souvenir category, it consists of houses or crafts, culinary and fashion. Barania Village only focuses on culinary and crafts where the craftsmen are mothers who have been the backbone of the family," he said.

"We have prepared various privileges in Barania Village. This includes bamboo handicrafts which will also be exhibited during the ADWI visitation," he said.
