Horror! Sri Mulyani Reveals There Is A Crisis On Top Of A Crisis: The World's Trials Are Really Hard
JAKARTA - The Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani revealed that the current world condition is filled with increasing uncertainty.
After being hit by a strong storm of COVID-19 that occurred in almost all countries, now the situation is exacerbated by uncertain geopolitics after the outbreak of the Ukrainian war.
“Now there is a crisis on top of a crisis. The whole world is going through a really, really hard ordeal," he said at the DPR Plenary Meeting on the agenda for the 2023 RAPBN discussion.
According to the Minister of Finance, the world has actually entered a true recovery phase. However, the situation is getting more severe with various spillover effects.
“Economic recovery is happening. However, everyone understands that the crisis due to the pandemic was then followed by geopolitics. The potential impact can lead to energy crises, food crises, and financial crises in various parts of the world,” he said.
Even so, Sri Mulyani assessed that Indonesia was considered capable enough to manage difficult situations with the ability to consolidate all existing elements.
"Indeed, all of us are still attached to the memory of the entire Indonesian nation working hand in hand to overcome the pandemic. Our love for the country moves us to work together, take extraordinary policies to deal with the pandemic crisis. Truly this is a nation's capital of extraordinary value," he said.
VOI noted that one indication of pressure on the global recovery was reflected in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) report which cut its economic growth projections in emerging and developing Asia by 0.5 percent in 2022 and 0.2 percent in 2023. Meanwhile, the World Bank also predicts growth the economy of several ASEAN countries is only 1.2 percent.
