Rules Apply To Children's Names Forbid Using One Word, Dukcapil Also Warns That Titles Such As Hajj Cannot Be Included In Documents

KALBAR - The Department of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of West Kalimantan (Kalbar) reminded the public not to use one word in the name for a number of population documents starting in 2022.

"Permendagri 73 of 2022 has regulated the recording of names on population documents, effective April 21, 2022," said Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office of West Kalimantan Province, Yohanes Budiman in Pontianak, quoted from Antara, Monday 30 May.

He also explained that the regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs applies to population documents such as biodata, family cards, child identity cards (KIA), electronic identity cards (E-KTP), and civil registration certificates.

"Now we have adjusted to the new rule, namely that the syllable in the name must consist of at least two and the letters and spaces cannot be more than 60," he said.

He also explained that this also applies to those who are just taking care, not all of them. "We don't include titles [also] that people usually include, including hajj, professor, and others on the population document because these titles are variable in nature," he said.

He also added that apart from titles, names should not be shortened, such as Gusti to Gst, Muhammad to Moh, and many others.

"This is done so that the community does not experience difficulties with the name business and we will also immediately socialize this rule to the people in West Kalimantan," he said.
