Cadres Want To Carry Raffi Ahmad As Presidential Candidate For 2024, PKS Says It's Just A Gimmick

JAKARTA - The Secretary General of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi responded to the desire of the chairman of the PKS DPP Zulkieflimansyah for his party to carry the celebrity Raffi Ahmad as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

Aboe Bakar views the statement of a party cadre like Zulkieflimansyah as merely a political gimmick. Aboe Bakar said, of course, PKS would obey him.

"So what are you doing, it's normal, his name (Raffi) was nominated," said Aboe at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, May 29.

Aboe Bakar emphasized that the official decision on the nomination of presidential candidates was only determined through the PKS Shura Council.

"The official thing from the PKS is that if there is a Shura Council and the results of the official decision will be decided later. God willing, we will have a Shura Council evaluate it in June, there will also be another evaluation in December," he said.

Previously, Zulkieflimansyah saw that the presidential candidate who deserved to be promoted in the upcoming political contest was a new figure who was still young.

From the informal chats of regional heads who are partying in PKS, the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) claims they want Raffi Ahmad to be promoted as a presidential candidate.

"This country needs a new way of thinking. Because the challenges ahead are really new and challenging," wrote Zulkieflimansyah in the zulkieflimansyah Instagram account.

"It turns out, from speaking informally with PKS regional heads, when asked who deserves to be nominated by PKS in the 2024 presidential election, what appears is not Anies Baswedan, Ganjar, and Prabowo but young figures like Raffi Ahmad," he continued.
