JAKARTA - The government targets Indonesia's halal food and beverage to be number one in the world by 2023. This statement was conveyed by the Head of the Ministry of Religion's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) Aqil Irham while attending the Halal Industry Event, in Thamrin City, Jakarta.
In the event which was also attended by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, the State of The Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2022 was also launched.
In this report released by DinarStandard, it is stated that Indonesia is ranked second in the world for the category of halal food and beverages (halal food and beverages), and ranked fourth for sharia economic development.
"We are targeting Indonesian halal food and beverages to be number one in the world in 2023. Meanwhile, the Indonesian fashion industry will be number one in the world in 2024," said Aqil in an electronic message received in Jakarta, Thursday, May 26.
This is in line with the policy of President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to make Indonesia a global hub for the halal food and beverage industry in 2024.
"This has also been proclaimed as a driving force for economic growth to realize an Advanced Indonesia," he added.
To encourage this achievement, Aqil said that BPJPH had launched the Free Halal Certification Program or SEHATI Program for Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK). "We are targeting that by the end of this year there will be 10 million halal-certified products to be issued through the SEHATI program," said Aqil.
To meet this target, BPJPH has conducted a self-declaration of Halal certification, especially for MSEs/UMKs with the PPH (Halal Product Process) mentoring scheme; and increase the LPH (Halal Examination Agency). A number of trainings have also been held to assist PPH, halal supervisors, auditors, assessors, and slaughterhouses (RPH).
On this occasion, Aqil who also accompanied the Vice President Ma'ruf Amin inaugurating the Indonesian Halal Center appreciated the involvement of retail entrepreneurs who opened up opportunities for MSMEs providing halal products.
"This good collaboration and cooperation is important to continue to support Indonesia's future development in the global halal market," Aqil concluded.
