Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture: Inter-stakeholder Collaboration Creates Resilience In Facing Disasters

NUSA DUA - Coordinating Minister for Empowerment for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said collaboration between parties can create resilience in the face of disasters.

In the session of The World Reconstruction Conference (WRC) 5 at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) in Nusa Dua, Bali, Monday, May 23, Muhadjir said this can be seen from a number of disaster management, one of which is the post-eruption of Mount Semeru, Kabupaten Lumajang, East Java.

One example of good practice in post-disaster recovery in Indonesia can be seen that within 5 months, the progress of construction of permanent housing and relocation for disaster-affected communities has reached 92.86 percent.

"Good collaboration between the parties between the government and non-government ensures the fulfillment of basic needs and the socio-economic recovery of the affected communities," he said as quoted by Antara.

Multi-stakeholder coordination in post-disaster recovery can also be witnessed in the Indonesian Resilience House, which is also part of the 2022 GPDRR side event, said Muhadjir.

In addition, Indonesia is also promoting the results of knowledge products from the convention in the implementation of recovery policies, including the post-disaster management of tropical cyclones in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara, and the earthquake in West Sulawesi.

Muhadjir said the fifth WRC was part of the 7th GPDRR initial meeting, and it was hoped that on the agenda, this momentum would become a path for socio-economic recovery, efforts to build the nation's resilience or resilience, as well as recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, GPDRR is important because it is part of the midterm review process of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2030, the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Therefore, I want to invite and encourage all disaster stakeholders to achieve the goals of SFDRR, the SDGs, especially in increasing international cooperation to reduce economic losses due to disasters, damage to infrastructure and disruption of basic services," he said.

Muhadjir also hopes that through the fifth WRC as a series of GPDRR in Bali, we will create a disaster-resilient world and build closer collaboration.
