Rp800 Million Burglary At Bank Riau Kepri ATM, 3 Foreign Skimming Perpetrators Arrested In Bali
JAKARTA - The perpetrators of skimming (theft of data using special tools) Bank Riau Kepri Batam City Branch were arrested by the Special Criminal Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Riau Islands Police in Bali.
"Yes, it is true that he has been arrested," said the Director of the Special Criminal Investigation (Dirkrimsus) of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol. Teguh Widodo when confirmed in Batam, Riau Islands, Saturday, May 25.
During the arrest, he mentioned that there were several perpetrators who were arrested by the Ditreskrimsus of the Riau Islands Police.
"From the development carried out, we managed to secure three perpetrators," he said, quoted from ANTARA.
The three people arrested by the Ditreskrimsus of the Riau Islands Police are foreign nationals. They were arrested in Bali while trying to cross to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"The perpetrators will later be brought to the Riau Islands Police for further examination," he said.
Teguh said that currently the Ditreskrimsus team of the Riau Islands Police is continuing to make arrests and develop the alleged skimming case.
Reportedly, the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol. Harry Goldenhardt, said that there were three Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) equipped with skimmers.
“At the ATM machine in the PriMart area, the Tiban Center officer found two skimmers that were suspected to have been planted a few days earlier by the perpetrators. The results of the inspection showed that two other ATM machines were also installed with skimmers, namely the ATM machine at HBC Plaza, Sekupang and the ATM machine at the Match Center," said Harry.
He explained, from the report of the representative team of Bank Riau Kepri to the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) of the Riau Islands Police, it was known that the amount of losses due to skimming reached Rp800 million.
"From the results of the report earlier by Bank Riau Kepri, it is known from the report, the losses suffered reached Rp 800 million," said Harry.
