Good News For Medan Residents, Citilink Indonesia Opens Three New Routes

JAKARTA - A subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, has added three routes from Medan, namely Medan-Banda Aceh round-trip (PP), and Medan-Gunungsitoli PP, which has been in effect since Friday, May 20. Meanwhile, the Medan-Sibolga route will take effect next week.

"This flight is part of the company's plan to develop Medan as a Citilink hub to strengthen flight connectivity in Western Indonesia," Citilink President Director Dewa Kadek Rai said in a statement, quoted Saturday, May 21.

Moreover, continued Dewa, Medan has a strategic geographical location close to Asian economic centers such as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and is the gateway to the western region of Indonesia.

"So it is hoped that it will attract more people to fly this route," he said.

Dewa also explained that the existence of this route would increase the accessibility of intra-Sumatra transportation, especially air transportation. So that the trip can be done with a shorter and more efficient travel time.

The Medan-Banda Aceh PP and Medan-Gunungsitoli PP routes will operate every day, while the Medan-Sibolga PP route will operate every Monday and Wednesday using ATR 72-600 aircraft.
