Police Arrest Man In Payakumbuh Who Sent Packages Of Cannabis To Jakarta

PAYAKUMBUH - The Payakumbuh Resort Police (Polres) team, West Sumatra arrested a young man with the initials SN (27) who was about to send marijuana-type narcotics to Jakarta via a delivery service.

Head of the Payakumbuh Police Narcotics Investigation Unit AKP Desneri said SN was secured from his parents' residence in Padang Alai Bodi Village, East Payakumbuh District.

"A few days ago (the police) received information that there was a shipment of marijuana type narcotics through JNE and we immediately investigated it," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 20.

The suspect was arrested by the Payakumbuh Police Narcotics Investigation Unit team on May 19 at around 10.30 WIB at his residence when he just got off the vehicle he used to deliver the goods to the delivery service.

"From the suspect's confession, it was the first time he sent the marijuana type narcotics using the JNE delivery service," Desneri said.

The suspect delivered marijuana-type narcotics to JNE, located in Cubadak Aia, Tigo Koto Diate Village, North Payakumbuh District, Monday (16/5) at 16.00 WIB.

"To the JNE officer, the suspect admitted that the box contained food or cake. However, the JNE officer was suspicious because the suspect was in a hurry at that time," he said.

The suspect's mode is to look for JNE delivery services in remote areas where there is no monitoring from surveillance cameras or CCTV.

"So in the box the suspect not only sent marijuana-type narcotics but mixed it with other foods," he continued.

After being arrested, the suspect was immediately met with JNE officers and the suspect admitted that the marijuana-type narcotics were goods to be sent to Jakarta.

"Currently the suspect along with the evidence has been brought to the Payakumbuh Police for further investigation," said Desneri
