For The Sake Of The Conference League Final, Albania Declares May 25 National Holiday
JAKARTA - The Albanian government has taken an astonishing decision. For the sake of holding the Conference League final, they designated Wednesday, May 25 as a national holiday.
Albania is the host of the Conference League final. The plan is that the final match will be played at the Arena Kombetare Stadium, which is located in the heart of the Albanian capital, Tirana.
''The 25th was announced as a holiday for all public institutions, especially those included in the Tirana district. This step was taken for the UEFA Conference League final," said Albanian Interior Minister Bledi Wash.
The announcement of the national holiday is considered by the local government as the most appropriate step in order to hold the maximum final party. Moreover, the final of the Conference League is a major event held in Albania.
"We are trying in the best way one of the biggest events that has ever happened in this country," continued Bledi Wash.
The Conference League final will bring together a Dutch club, Feyenoord, with an Italian representative, AS Roma.
At least there are more than 100 thousand supporters of Feyenoord and AS Roma will be present in Tirana to support their favorite team. However, the organizers in fact only allocated 4 thousand tickets for each of the supporters of the two clubs.
The local government will also convert most of the area in Tirana into a special pedestrian zone. This step was taken by the Albanian government as a way to anticipate the massive arrival of Feyenoord and AS Roma supporters.
''We took the right steps so that on that day, the feel of a football festival could be felt by everyone, not only supporters from Italy or the Netherlands,'' said Cuci.
UEFA as the official organizer has appointed the Arena Kombare Stadium in Tirana as the host of the Conference League final in 2021. With this decision, the Arena Kombare Stadium will later be remembered as the venue for the first final of the Conference League tournament with the other aim of providing wider opportunities for other clubs to participate in the European competition.
