Caught Stealing Milling Machines, Youth Without Jobs Throws Himself Into Cideng River
JAKARTA - The Gambir Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) has arrested the perpetrator of the theft of the sugar cane grinding machine with the initials SND (35). The perpetrator was arrested after he was desperate to throw himself into the Kali Jalan MH stream. Hasyim Ashari, Cideng, Central Jakarta.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Gambir Metro Police, Kompol Johan Rofi, said the perpetrator stole a sugarcane machine belonging to the victim named Endang Susilowati which was stored near a roadside electricity pole. However, the owner knows the perpetrator's actions. Suddenly, he immediately shouted thief.
"When the machine was sliding, the owner heard the machine and after seeing it the perpetrator was trying to steal the machine. The owner immediately shouted 'thief'," said Kompol Johan when contacted, Thursday, May 19.
Residents who heard the screams of the victim, immediately tried to make arrests. Because his action was caught, the perpetrator fled and left the sugarcane milling machine he had taken.
"When the perpetrator was being chased by residents, the perpetrator threw himself into the river," he said.
However, the perpetrator was arrested. The perpetrator and the evidence were taken into custody and an investigation was carried out.
"The perpetrator is unemployed, has a family but is divorced, has one child," he said.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
