Yogyakarta-Solo KRL Increases Capacity Up To 80 Percent

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta-Solo KRL has increased user capacity by up to 80 percent from the previous 60 percent per carriage or to 130-135 passengers in line with the changes to the rules contained in the SE of the Ministry of Transportation Number 57 of 2022.

"Although there has been an easing of travel rules, the implementation of health protocols must still be carried out. Passengers must comply with the correct use of masks," said VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Anne Purba in a release received in Yogyakarta, reported by Antara, Thursday, May 19.

In addition to wearing masks, KRL users are also required to show a vaccination certificate to officers either through the PeduliLindung application or manually.

A number of additional rules to minimize the potential for transmission of COVID-19 also remain in place on trains, including a ban on speaking in person or by telephone and passengers with children being advised to avoid peak hours.

The Yogyakarta-Solo KRL will operate 20 trips a day on weekdays and increase to 24 trips per day on weekends.

"In rush hour, officers will continue to control the number of passengers entering the train or carry out insulation," he said.

Meanwhile, the Prambanan Express Local Train has also been allowed to maximize capacity up to 100 percent.

The easing of travel conditions will not only apply to commuter trains and local trains but also for long-distance trains. Passengers who have undergone complete vaccinations and/or have received booster doses of vaccinations no longer need to show a negative COVID-19 test result. However, passengers who have only undergone one vaccination or cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons are still required to bring a negative result of the COVID-19 test.

"KAI supports all government policies for rail travel during the pandemic. The relaxation of health protocols is expected to be a turning point for the revival of the rail transportation mode and contribute to the recovery of the national economy," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Supriyanto.

The relaxation of travel rules for commuter trains and long-distance trains will take effect from Wednesday (18/5).

Even so, Supriyanto said the use of masks while traveling on the train was still mandatory and even customers were asked to change masks every four hours and dispose of masks in the places provided.

The condition of the passengers must also be ensured to be healthy, not having a fever, cough or runny nose.

“We also provide healthy kits for long-distance train passengers as part of our service. The package contains masks and wet wipes which are distributed free of charge," he said.
